Play date cafe .... Colour Splash

The challenge this week is a colour splash... the colour is green!..

The dragon fly has two sets of wings the top one being stamped onto acetate, they flutter in the breeze :)  not visible with a scanned  image
It does now I've taken a close up and personal photograph  this morning. (31.07.2010)

I actually didn't find this  challenge all that easy.. boo hoo ..

The acetate wings have been sprayed with tattered Angels Glimmer Mist ...garden fairy..
The white card has been stamped using Versamark to give a water colour effect. the main image is stamped with white chalk ink, the card then edged with the same, mounted onto a larger piece of black card that has been trimmed with a Martha Stewart punch.  The flower head has been blinged with tiny green jewels:)
Stamps...... meadow flower from Elusive Images Wild Meadow theme plate
Dragon fly ..Personal Impressions..... the first rubber stamp I ever bought!

Mark Two...  I've added some card spritzed with garden Fairy Glimmer mist, I thought mark one looked dark and unfinished..

Advanced card workshop with Sarah Anderson

I really enjoyed playing at this workshop with Sarah last Saturday.. We smooched, sprayed, splodged,  some people even went on the sewing machine, I'm determined to have a go at that! .. in other words a great day was had by all.

The result as you can see are two very different cards ... I love the bicycle !

It's inspired me to produce more stuff like this.. but have not had a go yet. May be it will be the Play date cafe challenge this week that will get me producing more along these lines...

Essence of Nature CD by Artilicious

This eagerly anticipated Cd arrived this morning... so I've been having a play! Not sure I've done any of these fabulous DP justice but thought I'd share with you any way..

backing papers from the CD
Tree stamp from Elusive Images Tall Trees set
poem from Elusive Images natures peace set
Meadow flower from Elusive Images Wild Meadow
Inks used Memories black
Adirondack cabin fever
Distress .Peeled paint.
Stazon black

Images and poem stamped onto tissue paper so that the  gorgeous DP could be seen through it.  It was a mistake to use distress ink cos when I applied  PVA the ink bled a bit..( picture 3 ) although I quite like the result. The same thing happened when I used Adirondack ink.. may be I was just too inpatient and   didn't give the inks time to dry. The Stazon worked , there's a surprise, but I don't have lots of colours... more on the wish list!
Image 3 has just been left ... not sure what to do with it ..yet!
One and three have been printed onto hammered card. I thought it might look like a water colour, had to persuade the printer to accept it! :)

PS I know the poem is wonky! I was worried about tearing the tissue paper... did you read what I just said?!     ... it's only paper Sue.. you should've done it again!

Tres Chic! at the Play Date Cafe

Had a great day yesterday at the Cubby Hole doing a workshop called advanced card making with Sarah Anderson. It made me think about my approach to card making... not quite sure how to explain it.. when I come up with the words to describe what I mean you'll be the first to know:)

Here's my entry into this weeks PDC. I love this colour combo..  not one I would've thought of myself and it's way out of my pink zone!..tee hee.  I like PDC because it helps me put designs together, use materials/stamps I'd forgotten about and the colour combo is done in other words it helps with creativity..yeh!

Work in progress

This is the latest page in my art journal it's the opposite page to the Secret Garden. Not quite sure what to do next ... text..colour?...

Have friends coming round tomorrow evening for drinks and a meal... plus a lot of catch up talk... might be some wine partaken of...you guessed it... A Girly Night In!!  so.. I'm afraid (whisper).. house work has to be done... No time for journals or any other crafting, which is a shame cos me minds jumping with thoughts and ideas.Isn't it always the way when you don't have time, I'll probably  have crafters block by... maybe Sunday, although I have a workshop with Sarah Anderson on Saturday at the Cubby Hole  .. that should be inspirational... just thought I better watch me wine intake!

This is a close up of the tissue paper technique.. which was shown to me by Suzanne, last Saturday at the Cubby Hole play day.  many thanks ... Sue.
I like the crinkly bit of texture that shows in some parts

Play Date Cafe challenge

I entered last weeks PDC challenge to help them reach 100 and I just happened to have a couple of projects that matched the colour challenge.

This week I thought I'd have a  proper go.. I look every week but never take part.
This is the colour challenge for this week at PDC http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/

The image is stamped onto white card which has been spritzed with.. Sticky Fingers, Grass Green ,Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in,Garden Fairy, Hydrangea and Lavender Fields.
I then stamped the image twice more onto plain white card, coloured and cut out the flower heads and decoupaged.,,, The image is water coloured with Whispers  pens, back ground paper is from  the Graphicus Guild paper pack. A smidgen of clear Glamour Dust added to the centre  of the flowers to give it some sparkle. Leaves punched out of the spritzed card using a Martha Stewart punch. Rubber Stamp by Hero Arts.

I enjoyed this project, love the colours and not ones I normally use... and whilst looking through my stash I've found some lovely backing papers ...along this colour theme... so guess I'll be doing it again!

The colours as usual haven't scanned all that well ...I must get into the habit of taking photographs!

Take a look ate the PDC blog there are some fabulous entries..

Secret Garden

Thought I'd have another go with my art journal. It's been languishing in a box... because I wasn't happy with what I'd achieved so far... So this is today's effort. the bird's not stuck in yet cos I'm not sure about him..The background colours are  more of a rich creamy yellow than is showing in the photograph..

PS.. I like the bird after all ..he's now a permanent fixture.. :)

PS can anyone recommend a good white outline pen...mines c--p!

I've entered this into The Play Date Cafe challenge #37 Provencal Style..

Purple Girl

This is for a young woman who likes the colour....  guess what..... purple!

I wasn't all that taken with these Stampotique images until I saw  a card in process using one of these images stamped onto vellum by Christine C ( from the Cubby Hole "Cuthbert rat pack" of which I'm one,...tee hee... all down to Sue M who made the resident Cuthbert Rat )
I also received  a B/C from another CHCRP... with one of these image which was also rather lovely..lots of talented Cubby Hole Cuthberts!!

CHCRP = Cubby Hole Cuthbert Rat Pack...       it's my little collective for all the people connected with the CH...lovely people, lovely place.

Bench...                                   Aspects of design from The Stampman
coloured with Marvy and Whisper pens and Sakura water brush.

I've entered this into the July challenge " lazy hazy days of summer" over at Sir Stampalot... link below.

Craft Stamper Freebie

The backing paper has been in my bits box for some time ... along with many other"bits" (many other boxes! )  I decided to make a card with it using this months free stamp from Craft Stamper magazine. I know its very PINK but I like pink. Actually in "real life" its a bit browny/greeny as well

This card may be winging its way to France as part of a commission for my friend Jeanie... who lives  there. I'll have to weigh it first on Joe's jewellery scales... It might be too heavy!  :-)
(Private joke between me and Jeanie)

tc xx Sue B xx

added 03.07. 2010

It is too heavy  Jeanie would like the cards to weigh no more than 20 grams due to French postage... quite a challenge.

Here's what I came up with . It weighs 17grams with it's envelope & insert
