Whew!!!... 34mins to go for The PDCCC

and all because I couldn't sleep!

I'd been playing with paints at the beginning of the week ( see below) intending to enter the PDCCC. Family events over took me and nothing came of it. Then whilst I was tidying my craft space at 02.30ish!! I looked at the papers and thought I'll see what I can do.  If it was too late to enter at least I'd had a go... plus keeps me from tidying!!
Lo and behold there was 34mins to go before entry submission closed... talk about skin of yer pants!

UPDATE
I've now added it to a white base card. Its not scanned very well.. I'll take a photo later when there's more daylight.

*****
New photo
You can just about see the silver Glimmer Mist spritzed onto the dark blue.

Whats left of the swooshing and spritzing, I coloured both side but I'm sure you don't want to see any more. Take note of the piece  at the bottom left... nearly mud!.. I'm so good at mud :))

Think I'll go get a coffee ... don't think I'll get back to sleep now :)

Just because!

I love this stamp..only bought it last week!!.. I have been dying to use this "ribbon"? don't know what it is but I love it. It goes well with Kraft card which I  also like using . I like the black and white look with the Kraft card.

This is a commission.. it's the sort of card I used to make when I first began  with this obsession!  I've learnt so much since those first stumbling beginnings... mind you I still stumble along...

Waiting For Mr Right!

Latest Steampunk Debutante Page

Remember that lovely bit of lace I was using as a fastener on the journal? poor thing has not stood up to the rigours of Steampunk Debutante so it has been replaced.. with something not quite as glamorous.. not quite?  definitely not!. It's a piece of elastic! coloured with one or two DI's then swooshed with gold acrylic paint. I'm hoping it will be sturdier as I'm sure the Victorian ladies would have wished their elastic to be good and strong! ;)
***
This is how the lace ended up after a very short time. have no fear i will use it inside.. in a place of honour.

***
This is what the front of the journal looks like now
I didn't do any crafting/playing at all last week because of family illness/problems.. all unexpected and worrying but everyone OK now... thank goodness.

Forgot to say I'm off to look at all the fabulous entries into this weeks PDCC I didn't have time to enter ...  but I love looking at all the other entries.

PDCC Colour Splash... a bit of fairy fun!

I've wanted to do something along these lines for some time but never thought it would end up black and white.. with a dash of pink!
I stamped the mushrooms and the fairy but moved the fairy stamp slightly by mistake! so instead of abandoning the project ,singing mushrooms and a dancing fairy came to be :) She's really "rocking"
I would like to make it more atmospheric but not sure how and if I start swooshing and splashing I'll end up with the dreaded mud!

Not sure about entering it .. but here goes.

Another commission

Desi requested a card for her son-in-law who will be 40yrs on the same day as her Dad who will be 90yrs (card done.. not displayed) and her grandson David.. see previous post. Desi likes the cards she gives to have the persons name displayed on the front.. I like to please :)

I think my creative thingy:) has done a bunk cos it took me all afternoon to do this card!.. I cuttled some mirri card then tried to colour it with various mediums... but ended up with MUD!  I'm good at mud!! gave up on that even after a trip to utube for help with the technique..

Not in the mood for listing  inks and stamps used etc.. gosh think I might be sulking! or am I just tired..  think  the card is self explanatory anyway.. If you want to know any thing just ask.. I wont sulk I'll just answer the query nicely :)

Playing with gesso and acrylic paint

I was thinking of the colour splash over at Play Date Cafe and inspired by Sue Allan ( Sue does wonderful art with  natural materials ..Mines nothing like Sue's :) ) when I was playing yesterday, trying to keep things simple. I just sloshed some gesso onto black paper stamped onto it, stamped the butterfly using acrylic paint. Although you can't see them I've stamped little butterflies onto the black card in black ? mmmm :)  Didn't know what to do with it so made it into a card. I quite like the end result ( a friend did, she's taken it! )
Wish I'd roughed up/feathered the edges of the gessoed (? spelling :)  paper, not sure how that could be achieved ... but will have a go another time

Not another SPJ page... fraid so

I've not been too well these last couple of days so have been popping into TMR doing bits then popping out again. Popping makes me sound lively...not! but hope to be so soon.  I even cancelled my hair appointment  (keeping the white at bay!) new one booked for tomorrow, so fingers crossed I make it.

I  finished this page off with a bit of stamping, painting, masking and swooshing! I've painted gold acrylic paint, mainly on the page on the right I was trying to get it to look like gold leaf, tarnished and coming off here and there, if you know what  mean :)  can you see it? I took this photo outside in artificial light it shines!

Hope you're not getting bored with all this Steampunk... I've got loads more pages to finish... when we made the pages in one Sarah Anderson's workshops I happened to end up with a thick book!.. so be careful which books you choose.. good job I'm enjoying it ;)

Birds in a gilded cage!

Images from Graphics 45 Steampunk Debutante collection.
Stamped images : Cavallini Birds and Nests rubber stamps
I've roughed up the pink pin since the photo, looks more vintage now.
I've been very spare with the watch parts..cos unlike Sue Roddis I only have a few... insert cheeky grin.. :)

Steampunk Debutante update

Some quick photos to show you what I'm up to in my SPJ.. I love this theme...

These three shots show the front and back of the journal. I didn't know how to fasten the lace at the back.  I didn't want to use any thing modern ( lol you know what I mean, Velcro or such like) I came up with using this dragon fly embellishment bought in Chester at the indoor market So now I just thread the lace through the wings. Don't know how long it will hold

Here's some pages in the journal. Some finished some not!
