Eastern Promise

Good morning and welcome. It's my turn to host the challenge over at Make My Monday  and due to the Chinese New Year falling this week on Friday 31st.... the year of the Horse
I've chosen
 Eastern Promise
Even though this is my chosen theme I found it quite a challenge..... I've packed quite a bit of my stash including things I wanted to use for this challenge... who's a puddin? ! ... I had to get my thinking cap on !! but luckily this paper pad remained unpacked. along with most of my stamps...
here is the outcome
 Products
Dovecraft Eastern promise 8x8 paper pack: Main image and Red script papers  distressed with Black Soot.
Dovecraft. Flower stamp: randomly stamped on the red backing paper. Stamped again on another sheet of DP, cut out, Glossy Accents applied and left to dry, shaped a little and applied.
The birds are from an anonymous ... Chines looking set...
Tiny silk flowers
Gems
Chinese coin
Ribbon
I wonky cut the script from what was left over once the main image had been cut and and adhered it to the main image.... so the two images where reunited in the smaller space :)

The saga of the house move continues...  not much time for crafting or blogging but hopefully  I will be able to get round to to seeing your projects.
 Bye for now

" Kraft" the day away

Good morning and welcome. It's time for another challenge at Make My Monday and Jan would like to see
A Little Bit Of Kraft
here's mine...
As you can see I used Kraft card for the majority of my card just a layering of black card stock added.
Products
Stamps: Blockheads Paper Arts: Birdcage and Scroll
             darkroom door: sentiment.
Black embossing powder
Black ribbon
and a little bit of bling.
The DT have provided some great inspiration and I hope this will encourage you to get out the Kraft card/paper and join us :)

I embossed the scroll on the black card just peeping from beneath  the scrolled Kraft  then used the same stamp with Versafine Onyx black ink on the reverse of the main Kraft image... it's self explanatory really.... why am I waffling!  :)

I would like to welcome new followers...thank you it is an honour that you follow my bits and pieces  Thank you also to the people that have been here awhile... all are welcome and I much appreciate  your interest.
I mentioned last week about my imminent house move... in the next month or two?!
here's Missi inspecting some of the packed boxes.... I have a long way to go!
When my  Grandaughter said that my craft room was messy... it really was and is!! I am a very messy crafter! but luckily it stays in here. I'm hoping to be more organised after I move. The shelves are beginning to empty but the rubbish bags and charity shop bags are multiplying!! Some stash is going to my Wednesday Craft Group...... lucky them? maybe :)
Bye for now

Birds of a feather

Hello and welcome to the Making Room... This morning being Monday :)  it's time for another challenge at Make My Monday. This week the lovely Rosie has chosen a fabulous theme which is ...
Birds

This is a little collage using four stamps from:
Oxford Impressions: Come Fly with Me: feather
Stamping Up: French Script and Post mark
Local King Rubber Stamp: Chicks5:   little bird:  I cut out part of his tail  with a craft knife so that it appeared over the  feather.
The Artistic Stamper: Birds of a Feather: Sentiment
Versifier : Vintage Sepia
Faber Castell: Big Brush...... thumping technique.
Link to YouTube   for technique:  I saw this on one of  last weeks entrants... this is my first attempt, I will be trying it again with a less dense stamp and "thump" a bit more to achieve more colour.
I snipped around the edge of the feather to give it a ruffled look... mind you I forgot to do this before I shaped and adhered it to the card with silicone glue I only realised this morning when I was about to take photographs. It was too dark when I'd finished last night... the lights not brilliant this morning either.
Confession time! this is the second card I made for this challenge... when I was downloading the first one I realised I'd done one very similar last year.. I thought oh no that's boring ! so did  the one above!
here's the copy cat

Now for some BIG news
I'm moving house.... My home sold very quickly... less than a month on the market! I thought it took months/years even these days for property to sell! So you can imagine my surprise and shock when the estate agent rang with the offer from the first and only viewer!  I'm totally unprepared, thought as I say I'd have months and months to sort out and declutter... I'm downsizing. So all this means that I wont be blogging much... not that I have been doing much blogging for the last year due to  sad family events.
I am hoping to continue with MMM as and when I can but because most of my stash will be packed away... dreading it!!! my contribution to the design teams inspirational pieces will mostly be clean and simple.
Have a lovely week and see you soon

Edited ... later that same day :)
I've been "thumping" again using the splats from the SU set and this time Whispers Strokes. I decided that the Faber Castell big Brush set is too precious to use with this method. I wanted to add a  some subtle  colour... not sure it was such a good idea :( especially the splats at the bottom right!
Bye for now ... I should be de-cluttering!!!

First MMM challenge of 2014

A big HELLO and welcome to my first post in 2014!... I've had a couple of weeks chill... did I say chill?! you know how life gets in the way of craft :))   I wanted to clear out my craft room  but hey ho its still a mess!
Laura has the distinction of being the first in the year to be the  Make My Monday hostess and would like to see some
Embossing
on your projects
here's mine: nice and simple

Products
ColourCore Card stock: Spell Caster.
Hobby Solutions: Flower Corner embossing folder
Chocolate Baroque: Flower stamp from Decadent Brocade
Stampingallday: With love tag
Cosmic Shimmer EP: Lapis Black Aurora mixed with a  plain turquoise type colour
Black cord.
This shows the dimension it also shows the two EP's that I mixed together... but they separated when added to the Versamark but I quite liked the effect. The lapis black EP was too dark on its own the blue didn't show enough  it was  too pale... doesn't matter how much stash we have there's always something we've not got!!
I look forward to seeing what you come up with it's always interesting, hope you can join us.
