Storm Clouds Reviisited

Couldn't stop... shading, rubbing, dotting, outlining, shading again... then I did it all again!

Don't know if it's better or worse visibly... but it echos how I feel.

California Poppy

The poppies are made from kitchen towel spritzed and splodged with various inks and paints made at a Cubby Hole collage workshop with Sarah Anderson. I stuck the kitchen towel onto thinnish card and put it through the Cuttlebug using Provo Craft Poppy die.

This die comes with a honeycomb die which I also cuttled using the same paper. I removed the kitchen paper away from the card and used a torn section.
The card is needed to enable it to be "cuttled"

I painted (ha ha!) the green, yellow   and blue directly onto the card.
Might have over done it but thought I'd share it :)

California Poppies are yellow, orange,  the flowers appear in spring and last through summer. It is the state flower for California. April 6th is California Poppy day.
Info about poppies from Garden Guides web site.

This was originally intended for Less is More
but it just happens to be the PDCC  colours for this week...  how cool is that..

Less is More... Spring

This is the first time I've used this Elusive Image stamp.
I coloured directly onto the stamp with Marvy le Plume & Whispers Strokes then spritzed the stamp with water before I stamped onto watercolour card. I repeated the technique with the text stamp. The background paper I played with some time ago, can't remember what paints/inks I used.

Although I like the result  would it  have been better, as an LIM card, in an A6 format without the backing paper?

February CCTV at the Cubby Hole

This is my design piece for the Cubby Hole. using Crafty Individuals tree stamps. I stamped the image onto watercolour paper to give it a dreamy feel...then covered it in Glossy accents .. which was probably a mistake ...mmmm I usually take things apart and do again if I'm not happy...

Inks:
CBQ,Pigment Baby Blue

CCTV Design Team Project

I'm a member of  Carol's from the Cubby Hole design team. This months project ... for me, we all have different design elements, was to use Crafty Individuals Miniatures, Natures Beauty paper pad along with  tree stamps no. CI 259.
This is my submission using the Natures Beauty paper pad but the project using the rubber stamps are a work in progress :)).. photos soon....I hope.
***
I used different materials to make the tiny envelopes . (tiny seems to be my  thing at the mo) For this one I used double sided paper from Tim Holtz paper stack. Using double sided paper means you don't have to worry about white bits on the envelope or on the back of the little book.
***

This envelope was made from white card  decorated on both sides with acrylic paints  and over stamped with script and flowery swirls. Folding this was a bit tricky due to the thickness of the card and all that paint!. Consequently  some of the folds have an aged look... just what I'd hoped for ;)
***

These are the larger pictures from the paper pad.
The idea and the format for the envelopes came from Sarah Anderson.
The format is 4 x the image size.
Through trial and error I discovered  to achieve a neat envelope it's best to add one or two mm to the length... Joe helped with that!
***

This one uses printed vellum and achieved the neatest envelope! and no worries about white bits and the glue didn't show! on the back of the book.
***

This is another one using printed vellum but  was too see through and I  had to add more to the back of the book.

These little books in envelopes could be used as toppers on cards or part of a canvass, in a journal etc etc.

Less is More Challenge

Added 16.02.2011
Photograph taken in the sunshine this morning
yes sunshine!

Ooops! I deleted the original image from Inlinkz by mistake,
wanted to change it not delete it.
Sorry if this causes any confusion.

Week two's challenge is only to use one layer... .ie. stamp directly onto the card... scary!!
I was worried this would turn out boring.. lots of people have used some wonderful shading, I  had a go with a tree stamp ... well actually I tried it several times to no avail  :(

Then changed my mind and went with this flower.. Impression Obsession Victorian Flower 2 stamped using Versacolor 302 Velveteen then embossed with clear embossing powder.
Not sure it fits the bill :)..

the black dots etc .. must be on my scanner!!... going to clean it now!

I will take a photograph tomorrow  and replace the scanned image.

This time inspired by a download from Dezinaworld.
I've not got an abundance of ink pads/paints etc so not got the shades quite right but I like it. :)

Spot the deliberate mistake!
The S is upside down..pooeee :))

Colour choice journal...small :)

This is my 4x4 journal and I think I love it! well up to now :)
I have trouble choosing colour themes especially when I attend workshops. I always end up using the same colours..
The idea of this little journal is so that I can keep  a record of  colour themes. I will be able to take it with me for guidance and inspiration when ever I need to.
The inchies are from a digital download by Cemerony

The reverse pages. From now on I will use a double page spread for each colour theme... didn't want to end up with an odd page :)

Play Date Cafe Colour Challenge this week is pink and browny beigey...  so I am entering this little journal page, well they were the inspiration :)

PS Not a brilliant scanned image!

Neglected Steam Punk!

At the Cubby Hole play day yesterday I "played " with my Steam Punk journal hoping to complete some of the empty/half done pages... I managed to complete one half done page!! I wouldn't mind but I was there for most of the day!!

I enjoyed seeing the wonderful projects of the other "Play Dayers" a lovely, talented group of people.

I love the little picture of the men, discussing some thing technical, no doubt :) The picture was part of a Steam Punk download from  Cemerony

The cogs  were from a wonderful Steam Punk Download from Dezinaworld. The cogs formed a frame which I printed onto photo paper then cut out and cut up!

Less is More

I found this new challenge site some time ago and thought when it goes live I'll have a go.
This is their first challenge...black, white and pink.

Whew!... I had one or five goes ;) before I was happy... the reason why? ... the biggest problem I had was keeping all that white CLEAN! ooh and straight and does it look like an old fashioned funeral card?.... oh hec! here goes any way lol.
Use the logo on my side bar to pop across to check out all the other CAS cards.

I loved the card on the front of this months Craft stamper ... this is my interpretation...It was made by Sharon Neill and she used 3d Friendly Plastic for the swirl and heart. I don't have any FP...  might have to get some though...

Cubby Hole Workshop

I had a great day at the " Cub" yesterday at a workshop run by Sarah Anderson called Love collage.

We got very inky and messy. All the materials were provided including a wooden frame which will be altered in some way. I also want to add some more bits to the actual collage, text probably. The materials included corrugated card, cereal packets, lace, scrim, tissue paper, kitchen towel etc etc and of course lots of  paint, ink and sprays and lots of PVA!  not forgetting tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits and chocolate!! fun and laughter and sometimes you could hear the concentration :))
The flowers are TH tattered florals which have been embossed  using  heart embossing folders...

The stitching was done by Sarah cos I'm sewing machine phobic! thank you Sarah. I had a great day and enjoyed the company of all who attended...thanks folks... mind you they have to put up with a bit of ***---***! from me now and then :))

tc Sue x

Can you see my shadow in the glass of the frame picture..lol
memo to self:  I must improve my photographic skills... skills what skills?

Hues of blue

A pretty card for the Dezinaworld "hues of blue" challenge. I enjoyed making this uncomplicated card in a colour I don't normally choose... no idea why not ! See Junes, Dezinaworld logo on my side bar pop across to see lovley artwork.

The butterflies are a digi download from Dezinaworld printed, once onto photo paper and once onto printable acetate then cut out and decoupaged with the acetate on top. In the hopes it gives the effect of fluttery wings :). I printed the DP twice (can't remember where this lovely paper came from) and decoupaged the flowers.

Close up of flowers and wings.

Fluffed! projects :))

Here's some stuff I've been playing with over the last few days... none of them have quite worked out..lol. My plan for today was to complete some outstanding projects.
Over the last  weeks I've had upsetting news of various kinds and today was no exception... so I'm not sure I'm in the right mood for creativity...
So I thought you might like to see some "fluffed" ie. not quite right bits and pieces , just so as you know I am  doing  a bit! :)

here goes with no.1
Some stamping, inking, blending, spritzing squishing with alcohol inks onto a 15x15cm stampbord that I got in a Graphicus stash box some time a go.

***
No.2
Triple embossing onto an image from Crafty Individuals natures Beauty pad.

***

No3
Crafty Individuals tree image stamped onto stampbord blocks which have been coloured and blended with various inks!

I took these photos outside this morning and you can just see evidence of the sun! on the the left side of the stampbord glinting on some paper I  made a while ago... can't remember what I used.
