Jane Austin for MMM

We've gone all Literary at MMM this week.
 Mynnette is the hostess with the most-est for the week and she would like us to be inspired by one of her favourite books, Persuasion by Jane Austin either by, the book cover, the story or both!
Here's mine inspired by the story.

 

Persuasion is a love story really... and my tribute is an image of Anne waiting in the garden after she has received a letter from Captain Wentworth, you can just see it at the bottom right peeping from under the curled DP... there's a little heart peeping too. The large flower is all about the letter too.

 I know that Captain Wentworth sends Anne a letter near the end of the story but I've no idea if they met in the garden..... that's my bit of poetic licence.

This is the book cover inspiration.

This is a quick post... I have visitors tonight (Sunday) and out early-ish Monday but wanted you to have my MMM post. Hopefully. I'll be able to fill in details later .. but you are welcome to ask.... please do.  :o)

Happy 2nd Birthday to LIM

I could not let this go by without joining in.. I've joined in since the first challenge..... ( not made every week tho!) and although I didn't know much about LIM as a design at the start it is now  a firm favourite. I've learned alot... Still don't always get it right but I love the concept! thank you to Chrissie and Mandi

I don't use this die very often... in fact I don't use dies very often... must try harder! but I do love it. It was cut twice, then stamped with a tiny script stamp from Pink Paisley, Spring Jubilee set. I cut the heads off the second set and scrunched em up and edged with the same ink as the script. I turned the flower heads slightly from the base flower added some pearls and twine.

I've only just finished this card  It's just gone 21.00hrs so the light for photography is pretty dire! but me be me couldn't wait to blog it! I will try to get a better picture tomorrow.

The card was torn and edged with DI Antique Linen and Versafine Vintage Sepia

Map stamped again in the blue ink concentrating on the compass which was  heat embossed with detail clear EP before being cut out

Over stamped with a lovely corner vine which was a freebie from Crafty individuals as was the circle Tree of Life stamp... I think it's the Tree of Life, weell  it is on this occasion :o)

 

This little bird Image soaring away to new heights is from Cavallini Birds and Nests, stamped directly onto the card then again onto the cream card stock which was cut out and decoupaged 

The colour of the  heart charm was changed with Alcohol inks, Slate and Terra Cotta

As usual the girls at MMM have produced some gorgeous but very different pieces for you to enjoy,  go take a look, be inspired and join in... hope you do, we'd love to see you :o).

Finished!

I started this flat canvas quite a while ago... In fact I've just checked it was August 2012!.. I never liked it so the other day I sat and played, pulled it apart added new bits and now It's OK.... just OK ;o) but here it is for you to peruse

This is what it looked like in before I started playing.. I'm hoping you tell me it looks better now ...

The original , didn't have enough depth I wasn't sure how to introduce depth once the Stamp Bord had been attached. In the end I just went for it... I dabbed and stroked DI's Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen in the spaces. Added more stamp bord images, changed the lace added more gold EP and other bits and pieces.

In this photo you can just see the delicate pattern stamped onto tissue paper. The gem stamped onto SB is an extra added image  to the original

Die Cuts and/or Punches

Good morning all and welcome to MMM second challenge of the year, this week is hosted by the lovely Fliss who would like to see 

Die Cuts and or Punches

here's mine

I thought I'd make something other than a card and decided to have a go at altering this heart shape.. not sure where I bought it, probably the Pound Shop or Home and Bargain,some shop along those line. I know it didn't cost much :o)

Here it is before the change

First of all I added paint, acrylic and tester pots of emulsion in white, then two shades of gold.  I added lots of glue with a paint brush pushing it through to the bits underneath then sprinkled Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel all over and heat embossed. next I did the same with Champagne Crushed Glass Glitter.

The flowers were made from Prima 12x12 DP Natures Garden Collection and  Tim Holtz Shabby Floral Die  enhanced with the same Embossing Enamel and pearls from stash.
Before adding the embossing enamel to the flowers I used DI Aged Mahogany and Worn lipstick  to add depth of colour around the edges etc.

I also used a Martha Stuart punch for the flower centres and to scatter smaller flowers here and there. You can just see one or two in the photo above.

Then I added  a bow in two complimentary shades of ribbon.  The heart is quite sparkly and shimmery but it doesn't show all that well in the pics

Mid Week Motivation at MMM

Hi everyone it's my week to give an idea for Mid Week Motivation on the MMM challenge.

The idea came to me when I was searching through my12x12 papers trying to find inspiration for my Granddaughter's birthday card. I came across  the paper pictured below from DCWV: Latte Stack which I must say I've had for quite a while and never used any of it!! ..

I cut out the shapes and embossed them with various embossing folders. Then played around on a 15cm square card base until I was happy with the arrangement, I then added bits and pieces from my stash to give interest. I think if I had used a with love sentiment this could be an understated Valentines card... especially for a man.

As the DP went through my Cuttlebug it took some of the colour off here and there giving it a slight aged look ... I liked taht look You can just see it on this photo.

First of the MMM 2013 challenges

Good Morning! how are you? fine and dandy I hope. 

It's time to recommence the MMM challenge  after a short Christmas break.

 Things have changed a , just a little at MMM we are no longer having a monthly theme. From now on it will be a weekly challenge hosted by one of the DT. To start us off it just happens to have fallen to me and I would like you to use

DRY EMBOSSING

 in your project... simples!

The card measures just over 7"x7"... that's how it worked out... :o)

I sanded the image and added a tiny bit of shimmer with a clear Sakura Jelly Roll pen... As usual there is variation in the colour reproduction in the photos.. it's in between the two! :o)

I made two of these little bird dies and cut the wings from one to give a bit of movement and dimension.

 I thought the LIM card looks a bit too plain...oh no  squeal the CAS people .. Oh yes says I.. Panto!?
 Any way it took me away from clearing away the Christmas decs... I get into such a mess, stuff everywhere! a lot like my craft room... the other thing I'm trying to avoid is all the gorgeous Christmas goodies lying around...  I must resist, I MUST resist... my new mantra! ;o)...

I Pulled the original card apart and reassemble it. I'm a bit happier with it now... and yes I  did mean to show the debossed area ... Oh yes I did... wink wink.
